hello friends,
can anyone help me on the issue of Works contract tax.
1. At what rate WCT is charged? Is it 2%
2. suppose i am the contactee and gives a contract to a contractor for building up of the staff labour quaters at my company's factory.
Contract price Rs. 1000000
Please correct me if i am wrong.
Following treatment will be done in my books
Plant and machinery will be debited by Rs. 1000000
Service tax receivable a/c will be debited by (1000000*12.36%) Rs. 123600
TDS a/c will be credited by (1123600*2.06%) Rs. 23146
WCT a/c will be credited by (1123600*2%) Rs. 22472
Contractor account will be credited by Rs. 1077982
Whether WCT will be charged on contract price of Rs. 1000000
OR
on invoice price of Rs. 1123600
OR
after deducting TDS from the invoice price.

Can Fixed Deposit be made of the amount deposited in Capital Gains Account Scheme.

in case we write off debtor before period of three years on our own will & claimed income tax benefit
can we legally recover dues thereafter

No you cannot recover as you have show it in your debtors list. And when you already writeoff the same claimed benefit in income tax. So you can not recover legally

the alternative thing that can be done is,
dont write off your debtor account,
make a provision for writing off the debtor,
Profit & Loss A/c Dr.
To Provision for doubtful debts
by passing this entry your debtor account will stand there on the debtors list and you can create a provision too.
